huema designed the set for Redeemed Dance Production, an abstract journey through Christian life, exploring themes of salvation, forgiveness, sin, and God’s righteousness. Each scene was carefully crafted to immerse the audience in this spiritual experience, blending storytelling with striking visuals.
Scene 1: Garden of Eden
A sculptured Tree of Life, bearing glowing fruits (warm light bulbs), stood on a movable platform to symbolize the beauty and innocence of creation.
Scene 2: The Fall of Man
This shift in the narrative was depicted through papyrus walls placed before the Tree of Life, symbolizing the separation between humanity and God.
Scene 3: Caged in Sin
Six movable panels with intricate rope networks represented the entanglement of sin. Performers interacted with the panels, and one of the main characters was confined in a hexagonal cage, embodying the struggle and imprisonment of sin.
Scene 4: Redemption
In the final moment, all barriers were removed, returning the audience to the Garden of Eden. The Tree of Life stood tall, well-lit alongside a radiant Holy Cross, symbolizing the freedom and redemption found in Christ.
This project allowed us to translate complex themes into visual storytelling, creating an emotional connection between the audience and the narrative.
